2004 NFHS Choir schedule

We attended the opening concert for the 2004 Naaman Forest High School Choir yesterday evening. Rebecca is once again participating and this year is a member of the Women's Chorale group.

Last night's recital was entitled "Fall Concert" and featured performances by all six choir groups. The Women's Chorale was third on the evening roster. They performed two works: Ave Maria (Jacobus Arcadelt) and Niska Banja (Nick Page).

While the full 2004-2005 concert schedule is available at the NFHS web site, the following is a list of those events at which Rebecca will either perform or participate in some other manner. All family and friends are welcome to attend.

Catalina registered

It is official! Catalina has been officially liberated from her servitude to A&T Kennels and is now a full-fledged, official member of our family.

Today's mail brought the certificate of "ownership" transfer from the National Greyhound Association. With this document, all ties to her previous life as a track racer have been severed and she is simply a much loved member of our family. Her entry in the Greyhound-Database; joining her adoptive brother, Oberon, in this regard.

We would like to recognize the former owner, James Tuddy Dietz, for his generosity. When solicited for his signature on the transfer application, he willingly complied and included a check to cover the cost of the transfer fee. This was unexpected and greatly appreciated. It is good to see that some of the breeders are interested in seeing that their former wards find a happy home and are willing to assist with defraying some of the costs associated therewith.

Fall 2004 soccer

Clarifying an earlier ambiguity, Collin will be playing soccer this fall for a YMCA team. The first practice was held last Friday, but insifficient notice was given to allow Collin to attend. Instead his first practice will be Wednesday evening. The games will be held on Saturdays with the first being this weekend at noon. More information and a full season schedule will follow in the coming days. Stay tuned.

2004 Labor Day Parade

This year's Labor Day Parade was almost an exact reply of last year's event — rain! However, whereas last year it rained during the parade, this year it let up just as the throngs were gathering to stake out a viewing place and held off for the remainder of the day.

A cool front began to push through the area at just after 0300 bringing with it rain. The precipitation persisted pretty much nonstop until around 0800 at which point it began to let up. When Rebecca was dropped off at the staging area at 0810, sprinkles were about all that remained. By the time Elizabeth and Herman had located a viewing location, it had completely stopped.

Naaman Forest was the first school featured in this year's parade. We parked the van at a business approximately two-thirds of the way through the route and popped the hatch to provide a covered viewing platform. It took approximately twenty minutes for the procession to make its way to our vantage point. The Starlettes followed immediately behind the band and were quite beautiful. As a squad leader, Rebecca was in the front row and outside on the right offering a perfect photo opportunity as they passed.

In addition to performances at the JV games, the Starlettes will be appearing at two civic events. The first of these will take place Labor Day, Monday, 06 September, in downtown Garland. The annual Labor Day Parade will begin at 0900 in the parking lot of the central DART rail station.

The dance team is also scheduled to appear in the Neiman Marcus Adolphus Children's Parade. This event begins at 1000 in the parking lot of Reunion Arena and progresses throughout downtown, eventually ending at City Hall.
