Mourning an intriguing concept

Today marks one week and one day since AdameOnline went offline — apparently for good this time. Beginning last Tuesday, 22 June, the site began returning error 400 messages during page pulls. Attempts to contact the administrator, Justin Barron, through his site alias bounced with a response suggesting that the account no longer existed. Mail to his other known address has resulted in no reply after a week.

We are therefore left to conclude that the site has met an untimely demise. This is truly unfortunate, for the idea behind the creation of the site held much merit and promise. Had it been successful, it could have been a model for similar sites by individuals wishing to pay homage to instructors who have had a recognizable influence upon their lives and academic careers. Instead, we apparently bid farewell to AdameOnline.

A new beginning

After three years of external hosting, the interactive node(s) of #kempiWeb have been consolidated and relocated here, to node.Zero. Visitors may notice a new link in the navPanel entitled #kempiCommunity. This is the public gateway to the localized community.

In keeping with the spirit of the previous sites, this interactive community is closed to public access. It is a private gathering place for members of the Adame, Johnson and May families; their spouses and significant others; and collateral relations. Membership is by invitation or request only and information for the process can be found by visiting #kempiCommunity.

The creation of this community coincides with commencement of the expiration for the heretofore separate, subscription sites hosted at MyFamily.com. Of the original four sites, two expired at midnight this morning; one will expire in November; and the last will expire next January. Members of the remaining two myFamily nodes are encouraged to migrate now as all primary posting to those communities has ceased as of today. The content from these external sites has been migrated to the community for archive, reference and nostalgia.

As has been the case for the past five months, summaries of select content posted to the private, interactive community will continue to be condensed and published through this public interface.

The lost, returned

Belated news has reached us that Crissa has returned.

In a recent conversation with John, Elizabeth reports that Crissa returned "a couple of days" after being spooked during a thunder clap on the evening of 01 June. We share in the joy of John and Christy at the return of their beloved canine and hope that experience will breed vigilance in the future.

Emma Claire Dobson

We congratulate Brandi and Chris on the birth of their daughter, Emma Claire!

Delivered by caesarian section at 1313 yesterday, Emma weighed in at 3.43kg and 49.5cm in length. Mother, daughter and father are all doing well.

AdameOnline ... again!

The teacher fan site and reunion community created by Justin Barron as homage to the career of Margaret, AdameOnline, is back ... online!

A note at the root level informs the visitor that a combination of web hosting miscommunication, bandwidth limitations, and administrator vacation all conspired to unexpectedly cripple the site. However, measures have been taken to relocate the site to a new server and the content is in the process of being recreated and published once again. In addition to the static content, the discussion forums are back online and the chat rooms are soon to follow.

One consequence of the migration was loss of all previous content. This is unfortunate as some members of #kempiWeb had joined during the previous incarnation and contributed to the site. We encourage all those who had visited and registered previously to consider doing so once again. Those who had not the opportunty to do so initially may wish to consider doing so now.

As with the previous incarnation, we wish Justin the very best of luck with his project and look forward to following its progress and growth. One suggestion, if we may: Save and save often! ;-)

Leaving the workforce

The end of the 2003-2004 academic year also brought to a close over twenty years of teaching sophomore English by Margaret Adame Trott. Carrying on a tradition begun by her parents, Margaret was employed for over two decades at Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas. Over the years, she has striven to instruct scores and scores of tenth grade adolescents the basics of grammar and provided exposure to the classics of literature.

As testament to her beloved status as an educator, she has been blessed with several gifts over the past couple of weeks. On the final day of school, her students chipped in to purchase an aquarium and male Betta splendens. In addition, a former student from the 1988-1989 academic year, Justin Barron, has created a fan site and meeting place, AdameOnline for all former students to gather, share memories, and keep up with Margaret in her retirement. Following a faulty start, the site is now back online.

Earlier today, members of the May (Elizabeth, Rebecca, Collin, and Herman) and Adame (Kristie and Mark) families treated Margaret and Theodore to a late lunch and cinema matinee. The meal was enjoyed at one of Margaret's favorite restaurants, Macaroni Grill. Kristie and Mark presented Margaret with a pen and pencil set. The group then traveled across the street where they enjoyed Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban at the Studio Movie Grill.

Margaret and Theodore have tentative plans to purchase some rural acreage whereon they plan to raise goats for meat and milk products. We wish them the very best of luck in their retirement!

Lost companion

John and Christy report that their Newfoundland, Crissa, is missing. During a clack of thunder Tuesday evening, the unrestrained canine bolted across the road and into the corn field across the street. She has not been seen in the three days since. We wish them luck in their search for the lost member of their family.

As a reminder, we encourage all responsible canine adopters to maintain proper and current identification on their children at all times! It is also advisable to maintain a tethered lead whenever outside an enclosure — especially during adverse weather.

Another Adame on the way

James has passed along information from Tyrone of the pending addition of a new Adame to the clan. Katherine is expecting another child in the December 2004 timeframe. This announcement comes just two days prior to the first anniversary celebration of their first child, EvaMarie.

Congratulations, Katherine and James!?!

Adame[Offline].com

In what has to be one of the shortest lived existences on the 'Net, the fan, teacher appreciation site for Margaret Trott, AdameOnline.com, appears to have suffered some sort debilitating mishap over the weekend. Since its announcement on Thursday, the counter shows an additional eight unique visitations — a total of 40 at the time of this writing. However, most of the content and the entire discussion forum has vanished.

Technical difficulties or death knell? Only time will tell. Stay tuned ...
